Tuesday 18th June - 8am
Greetings from the beautiful Isle of Wight! We had a beautiful ferry crossing - the children eagerly waving Portsmouth goodbye from the top deck and then watching the container ships and hovercraft float by. They only left the barriers for their first group photos. We had seen on arrival at school that many of the girls had matching hair, but on the ferry we learnt that Miss Morris and Miss Foster had taken this one step further with matching socks (there are rumours that they also have matching pjs!).
The journey was long but the children were brilliant and we arrived at Little Canada with cheers and a dash to the loo! The children quickly settled into their rooms, we had a tour of the site and a fire drill (safety first!) before heading off for dinner - with a lot of excitement about the fruit-flavoured squash!
Our evening activity was balloon splash. The children competed in teams to buy equipment to keep their balloon safe. At the end of the games, all the balloons that stayed safe could be thrown at Sylvia, our PGL host. Jasmine threw one and it soaked everyone on the way to Sylvia and others bounced off! (We think maybe she's played this game before!).
Back in the rooms, the children settled for their first night's sleep. Lights out at 9:50pm and not a peep was heard until 07:00am - well, this was Ms Linfield's dream scenario. In reality, there was much whispering and giggling, with Millie, Aspen, Shyla and Jess laughing so hard, they could barely stand. For any of those parents who might be worried about security, don't be - Mr Ratcliffe is on the case! He was checking out the huge hedgehog who seems to be our new neighbour. Meanwhile, Arthur, Finley, Henry and Ms Linfield spent time watching our real life Tom and Jerry with a cat unsuccessfully stalking a mouse.
Everyone has woken up this morning, bright and early, ready for a day of activities, although the most excited response so far has to be Joey on hearing that there might be hash browns at breakfast. We will fill you in or more later!
