In KS1 and KS2 all of our Stokenchurch Primary children enjoy a fortnightly music lesson in our fabulous, recently refurbished music room taught by Mrs Brand. Our practical Music lessons are based on the Charanga Musical School scheme incorporating the New Model Curriculum. This provides planning, assessment, clear progression, and engaging and exciting whiteboard resources to support every lesson with lots of opportunities to listen and appraise, play instruments, compose, improvise and perform.
Children at SPS have numerous performance opportunities through the year. Children frequently play instruments to welcome classes into our singing assemblies and enjoy accompanying songs on a range of percussion instruments. Classes also enjoy performing and celebrating their achievements in front of the school and local community in assemblies, productions and concerts. Please follow the 'Choir' link for information about our successful KS2 choir.
We are very fortunate to have strong links with Garsington Opera who come into school each year to run class workshops and also hold auditions for the Garsington Opera Youth Company. Many of our KS2 children have enjoyed participating in Opera First performances and some have performed in operas on the Garsington main stage at Wormsley.
